History of Scotts Bluff National Monument by Earl R. Harris |
Oregon Trail Museum Association | December 2003 | This history of Scotts Bluff National Monument helps to fulfill a project of the National Parks Service, namely, to complete an “administrative” history of each of the areas under its jurisdiction. Unlike most of the other histories, this one was published and made available to the public. |
Compendium of History Reminiscence and Biography of Western Nebraska 1909 Alden Publishing Company |
Bill Wever, Marilyn Estrada, Chris Geis, Brian Tingley, T & C Miller and the Knight Museum (Alliance, NE) | January 2004 | “Compendium of History, Reminiscence and Biography of NEBRASKA”, published by this same company in 1912. Please note the word “western” is missing from that title. The entire first page of Chapter 4 in that book, matches the first page of Chapter 4 in this book (with some exceptions in capitalization). The current suspicion is that the general history portions of the two books are the same. The biographies listed are DIFFERENT. |
History of Western Nebraska & Its People by Grant Sumway ~ 1921 |
Sandy Smith, Ted & Carole Miller | February 2000 | NAME and PHOTO index available. (Entire book is biographies – residents of the Nebraska Panhandle. There is no table of contents. This book has a tremendous number of typos, lots of flowery phrases! Read about your ancestors and their neighbors as well. All the articles are about “intelligent, sturdy, thrifty, reliable, far-seeing, hardworking, resourceful, persistent” people …. – Nebraska pioneers!) |
